John Cronan Howser, 70, passed away peacefully with this three daughters at his side on November 15, 2013. Born in 1943 to James Clarence and Mary B. Howser, he grew up with siblings Anne (Zangla) and Mary Jay (Rodriguez) and graduated from Good Shepherd High School. Upon graduation, John enlisted in the US Navy in March of 1963 where he served his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1970 and began his career with Ingersoll Rand Co. as a service supervisor in the pump division. He retired in 2000. Throughout his life John excelled as a custom knifemaker winning best in show awards for his folding knives. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, The National Rifle Association, American Legion and The Knifemakers Guild. John is preceded in death by his wife Judy and both parents. He is survived by his two sisters; three daughters, Deborah Merriman (Mark), Karen Judy (Thad), Victoria Estill (James); and six beautiful grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 20th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm followed immediately by Mass at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers or other remembrances, well wishers may contribute in John's name to Hospice of the Bluegrass. or the St. Vincent DePaul Society Arrangements are under the direction of Rogers Funeral Home.
