Obituary of Mary Lucas Morris

Mary Estelle Lucas Morris, 92, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at her home after an eight-year battle with Alzheimer's. Mary was born February 19, 1923 at Ducker's in Woodford County, Kentucky. Mary was the daughter of the late Curtis and Jessamine Glass Lucas, and was preceded in death by her son, Charles C. (Chuck) Morris. She was a graduate of Midway High School and Fugazzi Business School, and was retired from the Attorney General's Office. Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church, St. Clair Street, in Frankfort. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Jim Morris; two grandchildren, Kristin Morris, Florida, and Ashley Estep, Frankfort; and two great-grandchildren, Derek Jeter, Florida, and Dylan Estep, Frankfort. A special thanks to her caregivers Joy Bay and Gina Simpson. Services will be held at Rogers Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015, with visitation preceding at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Frankfort Cemetery. Dr. Bob Browning will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Bobby Hall, James F. Morris, William E. Johnson, Guthrie True, Bob Rodgers, and Joy Bay. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Franklin County Humane Society, 1041 Kentucky Avenue, Frankfort, or the First Baptist Church, 201 St. Clair Street, Frankfort.
