Obituary of Laura "Betty" Lee

Please share a memory of Laura to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Laura Elizabeth (Betty) Quinn Lee, 84, of Frankfort, KY was called to heaven on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from her home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Forks of Elkhorn Chapel followed by interment in the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the Chapel form 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday. Betty was born May 4, 1931 in Baltimore, Maryland, daughter of Mary Elizabeth Cook and Benjamin Taylor Quinn. The family moved to Kentucky when Betty was 12. She attended Elkhorn Elementary and Elkhorn High School. Betty met Paul Lee and they were married in 1952; enjoying 53 years of marriage. Both parents as well as Paul preceded Betty in leaving this earth. Betty and Paul raised their family at Memorial Baptist Church where Betty taught the children in the nursery and the youth in Sunday evening services. Following Paul’s death, Betty joined the Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church to enjoy church with her daughter and granddaughters. Mom loved her family: children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, gathering her family and friends around food and love. She enjoyed cooking and baking as well as camping, helping others, telling stories and entertaining her friends. Mom was always open to a new adventure with her children/grandchildren including canoeing, hiking, riding a chair lift or in a jeep; touring the U.S. with Paul and Paula; a trip to Gatlinburg for “real cheese”. Mom spent the night in a jail with one granddaughter and slept in a cabin loft with Paul and two grandkids. Having worked for 31 years in the Department of Transportation followed by a few years at the Kentucky Supreme Court, Mom worked for the Franklin County Attorney after her retirement. Mom and Dad cooked and served meals at the Access Soup Kitchen and Mom volunteered at the Sunshine Center. Betty is survived by 4 children and their spouses: Mark (Mary) Lee; Marsha (Ralph) Clark; Marianne (Tom) Yunt and Paula Lee (Debbie Marraccini) along with 7 grandchildren: Nathan (Stacy) Lee; Michelle (James) Caldwell; Lindsey (Shawn) Hanna; Rachel Clark; Ben (Katie) Yunt; Elizabeth (Chase) Straw and Kathryn Clark. She also has 8 great grandchildren, affectionately known as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in one girl and seven boys. Mom preceded a brother, Ben (Diane) Quinn and his children, Ben (Kim) Quinn, Jr. and Rhandi (Eric) Gallegos. She also preceded a brother-in-law, Ford Thomas, as well as several nieces and nephews of the Lee family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church and / or Hospice of the Bluegrass. Arrangements are by Rogers Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Hospice of the Bluegrass, especially Patty and Stacy, for their wonderful care of Mom. ***Please take note that the visitation and service will both take place in the old chapel, not the new sanctuary at Forks.***
