Ernest (Gene) Eugene Hayes age 80 passed away at his home on December 6, 2015 surrounded by family. He was born February 13, 1935 in Canyville, Ky., and was a forty year resident of Dayton, Ohio before settling in Frankfort, Ky. Gene was a mechanic, a truck driver for 30 years, and a Dayton ohio police officer. Gene served in the United States Army special ops in the Korean War. Served as commander of Amvets post 99 Vandalia, Oh. He loved playing his guitar, fishing, and truck driving. He was preceded in death by a son, Tony Eugene Hayes (infant); his mother, Daisy Greer; his father, Otis Hayes; two sisters, Juanita and Helen; and brothers Roger (infant), Rodney, and Otis Ray. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Prudie Helen Hayes; two daughters, Pam Robertson and Juanita Goodman (Don Goodman); a step-son, Lewis King; eight sisters; a special nephew, George Trent, and several other nieces and nephews; five granddaughters, Crystal Brown, Jessica Haley, Shauna Davidson, Amanda Brown, and Michelle Blakley; and eight great-grandchildren. A private service was held by his family on on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Rogers Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Browning officiating.
