Obituary of Suzanne Penn Nuttle

Suzanne Penn Nuttle, 69, of Palm Island, Florida, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016. She was born in Frankfort, Kentucky, on Aug. 21, 1946. Her mother Lillian Phillips worked in the Governor’s office and her father James Penn was a World War II veteran. A graduate of Frankfort High School, Suzanne enjoyed playing piano at church. She attended Western Kentucky University where she graduated with a BA in education and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and was a member of the Junior League of Bowling Green. She married and began teaching in the Franklin-Simpson school system until moving to Louisville in 1971, where she later earned a master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from Spalding University and the University of Louisville, and began her career as a Speech Language Pathologist. Suzanne taught at many schools throughout Kentucky and Louisville, and was passionate about helping children with speech and hearing disabilities. In 1991, she was named the Jefferson County Special Education Teacher of the Year. She and her husband retired to Florida in 2010 where she enjoyed her artwork and volunteering at her church. Suzanne is survived by Ted Nuttle, her husband of almost 37 years; her son George Williamson, of Louisville; daughter Carrie Williamson Karambellas, of Naples, Fla.; stepson Jason Nuttle, of Jupiter, Fla.; and four grandchildren. Suzanne was a long-time member of Southeast Christian Church in Louisville and a current member of New Day Christian Church in Port Charlotte, Florida. She will be tremendously missed as she was so kind, sweet, sincere, joyous, an eternal optimist and servant of the Lord. A graveside service at the Frankfort Cemetery in Frankfort, Ky., on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to New Day Christian Church, 20212 Peachland Blvd. Port Charlotte, FL 33954 or Tidewell Hospice, Philanthropy Department, 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34238.
