Obituary of William "Bill" Coleman

William Smith "Bill" Coleman, 82, passed away at his home on Monday, October 17, 2016. Bill was the father of Robert Coleman and the husband of the late Barbara Woods Coleman. Born in Frankfort on November 17, 1933, he was the son of the late Susie Smith Coleman and Lambert Young Coleman. A 1954 graduate of Good Shepherd High School, he served in the Army in Seattle, Washington until 1956, when he married his wife Barbara. Bill worked at Rogers Funeral Home for 13 years, serving as Deputy Coroner for some of that time, and later worked for the Cabinet for Economic Development and Big Rivers Electric in Henderson. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church and had served as President of the Kiwanis Club. Bill loved life, and he loved people. Bill was preceded in death by his three sisters, Mason McGaughy, Susan Moore, and Louise Coleman, and five brothers, Lambert, Gus, Frank, Ed, and Jim Coleman. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in the Good Shepherd Catholic Church at 11:30 a.m. Thursday with burial following in the Frankfort Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Rogers Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Tim Coleman, Joe Coleman, Greg Coleman, Russ Coleman, David Coleman, Paris Hopkins, Tom Engstrom, and Michael Moore. Honorary bearers will be Hank Hancock, Winston Rogers, Dutch Hatterick, Dickie Dawkins, Bruce Brooks, Larry Oberlin, Don Buchanan, John Coleman, Ben Coleman, and Gayle Woods. Contributions in Bill's memory are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
