Q: How would you describe Valerie "Dusty" to someone who had never met them? A: Dusty was a wonderful lady and a Blessing from God. She will be truly very much missed by so many! Dusty was well known by Frankfort. A lot of people knew her and the love she had for people. Dusty had a heart of gold and a heart for people. The Bible says,"those that have a pure heart will send Jesus and Dusty had a pure heart and I believe she is in peace and gained her wings.

Valerie and I grew up together in Morrisville Pa. a small town along the banks of the Delaware River. We couldn't get away with much because everyone knew our parents and where we lived. We did manage to play hockey a few times. Mostly we were warmed by a brilliant sun, had fun in the snow and woke up every day happy. There were 4 kids in my family. Valeria became the 5th. She took trips with us , picniced with us and we went to church together. She rescued a tiny kitten,Truman, who lived with us for many years. She got us a job washing dishes at a Medithous Youth Camp in the Poconos. Valeria was heading for college & wanted a nick name to take with her. I came up Dusty. I was a brides maid at her wedding. We lost touch over the following years; she working in the social services, me teaching. Then last August walking with my sister we saw her and her sisters. They were visiting the old neighborhood. All those wonderful moments of youth & friendship came flooding back. And with gratude I & my 2 sister's found our 4th sister. One of the best people who ever graced our lives.

Q: How did you meet Valerie "Dusty"? A: I met Miss. Dusty at the Salvation Army when I went to ask for help with an electric bill back in 2002. I was embarrassed, but she made me feel very welcome and comfortable. As we got to talking, I told her I was raised in the Salvation Army in Sandusky, Ohio. She invited me and my family to join church services that following Sunday. My children and myself went since. When my mother would come visit she joined us at church as well and Miss. Dusty welcomed her with open arms just like she did me!!! Miss. Dusty will be forever in our hearts and thoughts, You will never be forgotten!!! Live on with the Lord and enjoy your Glory!!!

I worked with Dusty in Disabilty but I moved after retirement and had not seen her since then. She certainly had a huge social worker heart. She will be missed in the SA community.

I had the opportunity to work with Dusty, though not in the same office, many years ago in our social work days. She was always so helpful , kind, and a true sweetheart in getting our sometimes stressful tasks accomplished. Marilyn Bannister
