Fred Walthall Burch III, age 83, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021. Visitation will be held at Rogers Funeral Home on Friday, October 1st from 5 to 7 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, October 2nd followed by funeral services at 12 noon with Rev. Todd Lester officiating. The Hiram Lodge will hold a Masonic Funeral Service at 4:30 pm Friday. The lodge will open at 4:15. Fred was born in Frankfort, Kentucky on October 14, 1937 to Ruby Clark Burch and Fred Walthall Burch Jr. and attended Frankfort High School and Centre College. He served in the United States Army and was active in both local and state Jaycees and was named Kentucky Jaycee of the Year. Fred, a Kentucky Colonel, served as Franklin County Democratic chairman and was a member of the Kentucky Athletic Commission. He was the owner of Frankfort Meter and Electric. Fred is survived by his children Fred Walthall Burch IV (Barbara) and Nancy Burch Kinnaman, brother Jack Burch, and life companion Nancy Locher Black. He was a loving “Granddad” to Fred Walthall Burch V (Rachael), Kennedy Bowman (Austin), Hunter Kinnaman and great-grandchildren Riley Bowman, Bailey Bowman and Penelope Burch; as well as extended family members Casey Newett and Kellie Kissel. Fred was an avid fisherman, boater and NASCAR enthusiast. He piloted his own plane. He loved to travel and especially loved trips with family and friends to Crystal River, Florida and Mammoth Springs, Arkansas. He was honored to have been adopted as a member of the Slone Clan. Serving as pallbearers will be Herman Gipson, Don Moore, Tim Veno, Brian Swift, Scott Wood and Fred Burch V. Honorary pallbearers are Ronald C. Walpert, Cade D. Black, Jerry Crump and Jack Burch. Flowers or contributions to Shriners Hospital for Children or St. Jude Children’s Hospital are welcome.
