Mary Agnes Fitzgerald Oerther, 95, widow of the late George Francis Oerther, Sr., passed away Saturday, August 27, 2016. Born in Franklin County on January 26, 1921, Mrs. Oerther was the daughter of the late Walter Louis and Anna Mary Bryan Fitzgerald. A graduate of Good Shepherd School, she worked at Fitzgerald Drugs and as a licensed cosmetologist while also serving her family as a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church where she served as a Sacristan, the Altar Society, the National Hikers and Campers Association, Square Circle Square Dancers, American Red Cross, and Right to Life. Mrs. Oerther is survived by two daughters, Brenda Hicks of Hamilton, Ohio and Ann Haeberlin of Louisville; two sons, George F. Oerther of Raymondsville, Texas, Carl F. Oerther of Louisville, and Michael Bryan Oerther of Frankfort; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, William Joseph Oerther, and four siblings. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in the Good Shepherd Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Friday followed by burial in the Frankfort Cemetery. Visitation will be at Rogers Funeral Home from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, and a Prayer Vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. Contributions in Mrs. Oerther's memory are suggested to the Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
