Miriam Goebelene Harrod Dryden Singleton passed away Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016 at Morning Pointe of Frankfort at the age of 91. Born in Preachersville, Kentucky on Sept. 25, 1924, Mrs. Singleton was the daughter of the late Justus Goebel Harrod and Allie May Cummins Harrod. She graduated from Frankfort High School in 1942 and from Eastern Kentucky College in 1946, and was retired from Kentucky State Government. She was a charter member of the Society of Boonesborough, as well as a member of the Susannah Hart Shelby Chapter of Kentucky DAR, Meriwether Society, Callaway Family Association, the EKU Pioneers, Kentucky Historical Society,Genealogical Society and lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary. She was a long-time member of the Pollyanna Class at First Baptist Church and also attended First Christian Church for many years. Mrs. Singleton was preceded in death by her husbands, William Nelson Dryden and Kenneth D. Singleton, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Dryden; sister, Jo Nell Sullivan; and step-son, Kenneth D. Singleton III, all of Frankfort. Other survivors include nieces, Debbie Wagoner (Billy) of Murray, Karen Harrod (David) of Frankfort, and several other nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her precious “grand-doggie” Josh. Arrangements are under the direction of Rogers Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at Rogers. A graveside service will begin at 10:30 am on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Lawrence Blevins, Wendell Butler, Mark Morris, David Harrod, Billy Wagoner and L.T. Harrod. Honorary Bearers will be Robert Earl Harrod, Doug Smith, Jeremy Roberts, Seth Dawson and Ken Butler. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Goebelene’s memory are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 663 Teton Trail, Frankfort, KY 40601.
