Duane & Shurann Cornette Yeager were very special people. Hal Roberts (cousin on the Cornette side) & I were invited to Thanksgiving Dinner at their lovely home in Georgetown KY in 2001 - after the passing of Hal's mother Lois Cornette Roberts. What a spread Shurann put out!!! And she had obvious signs of the MS... Duane showed us some of his fantastic art work. I remember seeing examples of his "Ugly Jugs", as he called them. A time or two after Shurann's passing, we picked up Duane on our way from MI to TN for the Cornette Family Reunion. It was always a good time visiting with Duane. He also had us stop off at his antique shop to browse among his treasures.

My brother followed a very different path from me, but I always was in touch with him and his family and treasure that association. He left a legacy for us, of dedication, hard work, loving care, and shared fun. It does not seem real that this larger-than-life character no longer inhabits this world. I could always call him up and we would talk about our childhood, our school days, our friends, our families, and our many shared experiences. One thing never changed in my relationship with Duane. There were a score or more of stories he would tell, always beginning with, "Do you remember the time..." I do remember, Duane, and one day in Heaven we will share them together again.

I consider Duane my oldest and dearest friend. We met in 1971 when I was discharged from the service. We were both antique dealers at the old Georgetown, Ky. flea market. One look at his table of merchandise and I knew we shared the same interests! For years we set up together at antique shows and flea markets, and enjoyed many a buying trip together, searching for treasures. We both were artists - when I retired from teaching to make art full time, Duane graciously offered the use of his basement for my first studio. When you are friends for over fifty years, you would expect some ups and downs, but Duane and I never had a single cross word. We would occasionally drift apart, I spent a year in Atlanta going to school, and several years ago I moved to Winchester, Ky., and this made it harder to see each other on a regular basis. I consider Duane to be one of the finest men I have ever known, he will be sorely missed by all who knew him, my heartfelt condolences to family and friends, rest in peace, old friend.

I am so sorry to hear of Duane's passing. I remember Duane fondly and am so sorry for your loss. He loved his family deeply and had a generous heart. Duane never met a stranger and was ready and willing to help anyone in need. Midway won't be the same without Yeager's Antiques. Going into the shop was not for anyone in a hurry. One always was welcomed and he had a story to share about any item of interest. I am sure that he is now in heaven telling stories to all who will listen. I pray for comfort for his family and friends during this difficult time. It was a privilege to know him and his family.

We knew Duane and Debi at Broadway Christian Church and always enjoyed his good comments in class as well as visiting his shop in Midway. We also enjoyed a common interest in stopping at antique shops in the mid-west. He always had a positive attitude, friendly and funny things to share. He loved visiting and eating out. We have moved away from KY recently, but will remember him and miss him. May God give good memories to the family and comfort them in their loss. -Gerald & Ruth Denny

I took this picture of Dwayne July 22 , 2023. I purposely made it wide-angle to see his whole office. He was a good friend and I always enjoyed visiting his unique shop. His shop added a lot to Midways charm and diverse downtown shops . All of we merchants who knew him will miss him.
