Dearest Mae Belle, I just read about Jack Tom and with a lump in my throat I thought of what a true love story you two had for 67 years. Not all smooth sailing, but solid. Memories of you dating, graduation, Jack Tom laughing being the life of the party…doesn’t seem that long ago.. And you, Maebelle, since second grade at Murray Street, are as beautiful, bright and adventuresome as then… but with added loving and thoughtfulness, as you have held the class of 1958 together with “Maebelle glue! “ That’s where you started. That’s what you are, a loving loyal “glue.” I grieve with you tonight for your loss… there is nothing like it. You believe as do I this is not the end of the Love story, but the beginning of a greater one. So, I think of you tonight, Maebelle with so much love and admiration. As I pray for you and for Jack Tom and give thanks for the many many years you have devoted to each other, and to your children, and your grandchildren, and many, many friends. Mae Belle. I am so sorry to hear about Jack Tom. Seems like I've known him all my life. I guess since he and Daddy and the other guys started the Club. I loved his laugh. A couple of years ago I took Daddy to the Club and when we were leaving Jack shook Daddy's hand and I laughed and told Jack I thought they were going to hug. Well, there was that laugh and Jack gave Daddy a huge bear hug. All those men laughed and thought it was cool. I bet none of them ever got a hug like that! Daddy always thought the world of Jack. He will truly be missed. Please know you are in our prayers!
