Obituary of Carla Pettway-Harris
Please share a memory of Carla to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Carla Lacole Pettway-Harris, a vibrant spirit who graced this world on May 5, 1988, in Frankfort, KY, and left us far too soon on June 7, 2025, at the tender age of 37. At the time of her passing, she was residing in Lexington, KY.
Carla was many things to many people, but her most cherished role was being a mommy to her beloved son, Malachai. She was a devoted daughter to her parents, Carl Lee Harris and Jean Pettway, a loving sister to her brothers, Deshaun Pettway and Theodore Harris, and a true friend to all who knew her. Her family was her world, and her friends were her extended family.
Carla had an uncanny ability to light up any room she entered. With her radiant smile, generous hugs, and infectious laugh, she could turn any gathering into a celebration. Her spirit was vivacious and adventurous, always daring to explore new horizons and embrace life's challenges with enthusiasm and grace. She lived life as a free spirit, unafraid to express her love and care for others.
Her adventurous nature was matched only by her boundless capacity for love and compassion. Carla was known for her kindness, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. She lived by the belief that everyone deserved to feel special and loved, a philosophy she practiced daily through her actions and words. She loved crocheting, painting, being outdoors, hiking, any water adventures and introducing Malachai to new and exciting adventures.
Carla is survived by her loving family, who will carry her spirit forward: her father, Carl Lee Harris(Virginia); her mother, Jean Pettway(Kevin Robinson); her beloved son, Malachai Pettway; and her brothers, Deshaun Pettway(Sarah) and Theodore Harris. Nieces; Tristan, Desiray, Kaeli, Scarlett, Nephew; Daxton and a host of loving family and friends. Each of them holds dear the countless memories and the lasting impact Carla had on their lives.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Carla's life on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm at First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, 214 Murray Street, Frankfort, KY 40601. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery, Frankfort, KY.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who have shown expressions of love and compassion during this difficult time. Your support and kindness have been a source of comfort, and we thank you for being a part of Carla's life.
As we remember Carla, let us carry forward her legacy of love, laughter, and boundless spirit. She may have left this world, but her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
