The most difficult post I've ever made. My Dad, Steve Hart, passed away Friday after a courageous and difficult 7 year battle with cancer. I will miss him every day, but find peace in knowing he is no longer suffering and is whole again in heaven, Until we meet again, I love you, Dad.

As I watch my mom navigate her grief and go through the process of everything you typically do to lay someone you loved so much to rest we talked about how impossible it is to put everything that that person was and meant to you in just a few short paragraphs….
I will miss you dearly Pa and I am so thankful that this is just see you later. Our hope and salvation rests in Jesus.

My sweet father-in-law, there aren’t enough words to tell you about how much he loved his grandkids and how they loved their Pa. We are heartbroken he won’t get to watch the boys grow up, but we know he has a front row seat cheering them on from Heaven. We love you Pa!

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
Pa
There are so many things I wish we could say, conversations we couldn’t have at the end.
You were the best Pa a girl could have. It definitely wasn’t easy, but it was worth it. All the grumpy fights were few and far between, like wearing flip flops in the snow and not brushing teeth in a timely manner…
You surprised me with Kenny Chesney tickets, then let my best friend go with me, all on our own.
You tried all of my weird homemade cookie combinations (good and bad…)
We went to Brazil and spent time building a small church in a village in the jungle.
You accepted Brad, even though he was closer to your age than mine… and loved Lucy as your first grandchild, even though she wasn’t our baby by birth, she definitely became part of our family as if she was always meant to be ours.
When James came along, you became a grand Pa, and you loved it! Then, Audrey came along and that tiny girl wrapped you around her finger in no time.
You loved your boys, then your girls, all your son-in-laws and daughters-in-laws, then all nine grandbabies that came along. The Lord and your family had your heart.
We are so thankful that you were able to be home with your family and we could see you whenever we could. That your other half (Lisa/Mom) could be home with you through the good times and the bad and have so many friends and family to show their support in so many big and little ways.
We will miss you always, and are so thankful we’ll see you again

I'm still struggling to find the words to say. To say that I'm sad, heartbroken, and devastated is an understatement. Even though I am those things, what I cling to the most is the hope and blessed assurance we have in Christ. I miss my dad so much, but I will see him again. I love you, Dad.

Tennessee Vols Biggest Fan Steve Hart…
It’s really hard to sum up 30+ years of having Steve Hart as my brother-in-law. I’m saddened to announce his passing. He fought a courageous battle to the end. Steve and my sister Lisa would always check in before my arrival to make sure I had everything I needed. Really…. I think Steve just wanted to know how long his sister-in-law was staying, so he could prepare himself for my numerous pieces of luggage that he would have to carry upstairs to the guest bedroom. If you know me, you know I don’t travel light. He was always up for my Kentucky shenanigans, partner in crime at Keeneland, Woodford Reserve, Buffalo Trace, Four Roses etc. An employee at Four Roses once asked if I was Lisa and Steve’s daughter. I thought it was hilarious them not so much. He was always happy to run me all over Frankfort and Lexington, (with a slight lead foot on the pedal) IYKYK…for whatever I was on the hunt for at that moment. We shared many common interests including horse racing, The Kentucky Derby (even naming his black lab puppy Derby) NFL football, (he was the commissioner in our fantasy football league for 10+ years) He even helped me plan a girls day at The Kentucky Oaks for my sisters and nieces. A day I’ll never forget! They celebrated many life events with my family, high school graduations, (he had no idea he would be carving a palm tree out of fresh pineapples until after midnight ) but he should’ve had a clue….I’m a little over the top…. High school football (in PA for Alex) and college games, (NC State versus Tennessee Vols) in Atlanta, Ashton’s wedding in NC, etc. So many great memories. We will miss that in the future. He loved my sister, their children, and was over the moon for 9 grandchildren….even loved the grand dogs! He was so proud of each and every one of them. He had a huge heart, a wonderful career, and he was a man of God. Steve was a huge Tennessee Vols fan, Cardinals fan, well let’s face it….basically loved anything sports related. He had a smile and laugh you’d never forget. It was a life well lived, well loved, just not long enough. We will miss you!!
