Obituary of “Murphy” Berry

Charles Murray “Murphy” Berry, 72, passed away on October 2, 2025.
Born in Frankfort on July 22, 1953, Murphy was a graduate of Frankfort High School where he played basketball and ran track. An Army veteran, he served both in Germany and Korea, and spent much of his life as a chef in local restaurants including Pink Pig, Serafini, and Buddy's Pizza. He was a member of St. John AME Church and loved music, grilling, and walking his dog Jake.
Murphy was preceded in death by his wife Rhonda Clements Berry and his parents Zeke and Georgia Berry. He is survived by two daughters, Manail Brooke Berry and Janin Earnest; two sons, Jason Berry and Charles Malcolm Strubheim; a sister, Deborah Taylor; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces Erika Taylor and Codentra Richardson; great-niece Eboni Taylor Summerour; great-nephew LaMarques Summerour; and great-great-niece Leiloni Johnson.
A celebration of his life took place on October 13, 2025, at the 99 Club, Frankfort, KY.
