I'll never forget the first time I talked to Kristie on the phone. I was standing on the side of the road waiting on a bus in Cincinnati and she called me to investigate what type of woman I was and if I was a good fit for her cousin, Christopher. We immediately hit it off and got to know each other with a great conversation that lasted over an hour. I knew I had found a friend in Frankfort.
Kristie was many things. She was a soft, good-hearted woman that had more than her fair share of pain and suffering. I choose to see the Christ in her and not her mistakes - I dare not be the one to throw the first stone because of my own struggles. Addiction is a demon that can attach itself to anyone.
Our Kristie loved hard! She was feisty and could definitely hold her own in any situation. She had courage to put one foot in front of the other and keep on keeping on. She fought the good fight and now she's at peace with Jesus. I picture him holding her in his arms and tenderly kissing her on the forehead.
She was a damn good friend and my life will never be the same without her.
