Rose Marie Tomlinson, 89, died April 24 at Spring Arbor (formerly Dominion), Frankfort. Rose was born in Frankfort on October 15, 1936 to Henry Tincher and Mabel Sharp Tincher. She was preceded in death in September 2024 by her husband of 69 years, John Edward Tomlinson Jr. Rose graduated from Frankfort High School in 1954. She worked for the Commonwealth of Kentucky during her entire professional career. She began in the state Department of Education, worked for Secretary of State Frances Jones Mills, moved to the Kentucky Court of Appeals and then worked for the Kentucky Motor Vehicle Commission. She was a regular attendee of First Christian Church, always attended her Sunday School class, and was a member of the Mariposa Women’s Group. She was devoted to her family; her grandchildren were her “Sunshines”. She and John never missed a sporting event, play, dance recital, band concert or any other activity her grandchildren were involved in. Rose enjoyed golfing, gardening, Sunday night suppers and everything to do with butterflies. She was a longtime member of the Garden Club of Frankfort. She and John were regularly seen golfing at Juniper Hill. Rose is survived by a daughter, Beth Liebman (David Conway), a son, John Andrew “Jadie” Tomlinson (Cathy), and two sisters, Bonnie Alley and Henrietta Evans, all of Frankfort. She was predeceased by her sister, Geraldine Street, and her brother, Tim Tincher. She is also survived by six grandchildren who dearly loved their “Rosie,” Jennie Liebman Heiert, Ft. Thomas, Ky., Joe Liebman (Adrienne), Frankfort, David Liebman (Sammie), Ludlow, Ky., Ben Liebman (Chandler Curry), Cincinnati, Kelsey Tomlinson, New Orleans, and Drew Tomlinson (Courtney Alexander), Georgetown; and three great-grandchildren, William Lewis Heiert, Arthur Edward Liebman and Hazel Marie Tomlinson. Services will be Thursday, April 30 at 1 p.m. at First Christian Church, officiated by Rev. Elizabeth King. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Rogers Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Jennie Heiert, Joe Liebman, David Liebman, Ben Liebman, Drew Tomlinson, Kelsey Tomlinson, William Heiert and David Crume. Arthur Liebman and Hazel Tomlinson will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Rose’s memory to either the American Diabetes Association (PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116)) or the Golisano Children's at UK Philanthropy (PO Box 910628, Lexington, KY 40591).
