Obituary of Margaret Layson

Margaret Rae Layson, 88, passed away on April 26,2026. Margaret was born in Dixon, Missouri on February 7, 1938, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Branson and Rachel Violet Minton Branson. She was a graduate of Central High School in Springfield, Missouri. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Cy Layson, and is survived by her sons Andrew Layson (Virginia) and Tim Layson (Christie); daughter Holly Hruska; grandchildren Aubri Courtney (Jonathan), Megan Smith (Josh), Cyrus Layson (Lyrik), and Ashley Layson; and four great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son Mark Layson and her infant granddaughter Angel Rae Layson. Margaret found her greatest fulfillment and joy in being both a mother and a grandmother. Throughout her life as a homemaker, she was unwavering in her support of her husband and family, and she will be forever cherished for her never ceasing love and devotion. A funeral service will be held at Rogers Funeral Home at 12:00 Tuesday, May 5th with visitation beginning at 10:00am. Burial will be in Rose Crest Cemetery in Versailles. Pastor Jimmy Patillo will officiate the services. Contributions in Margaret’s memory are suggested to the Cy Layson Memorial Scholarship at the UK College of Engineering or to March of Dimes.
