Even though Jean and my dad divorced many many years ago, I always referred to her as my Step Mother. We did not share holidays , but we shared love and conversation and laughter when talking about the past, present and what could be in the future. When my dad passed, she comforted me even after dealing with the loss of her daughter Erica- my sister. Those were hard times, but Jean appeared strong even when I knew losing Erica was a loss that can not be replaced. When my Mother passed, she was an ear to listen, knowing a loss like that herself. I know Erica was waiting for her as she crossed over, as well as her parents and all who went before her. She is at peace, at rest and with our Heavenly Father. I never thought I would not be able to say I love you one more time to her. She was very special to me, a second mom, a friend, and I loved her very much.
