Helen Mae "Betty" Moses Dawkins, age 93, died peacefully on May 22, 2026. Betty was born August 21, 1932 in Huntington (Cabell), West Virginia to George Arthur Moses, Sr. and Cordia Mae Jacobs Moses. Betty was also preceded in death by her loving husband Charles Richard Dawkins, Jr., her brother George Arthur Moses, Jr., and her sister Della Moses Little.
Betty is survived by her children Charles Michael Dawkins (Yan) of Rosenberg, TX, Mary Helen Dawkins Wood (Michael) of Union, KY, and David Lee Dawkins (Colleen) of Versailles, KY; one grandson, Christopher Wood (Megan); four granddaughters, Lauren Wood Parrott (Josh), Dana Dawkins, Amber Dawkins Easterling (Josh), and Amanda Dawkins; 15 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law William Irvin (the late Vivian) Dawkins; sister-in-law Mary Dawkins O’Brien; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Betty grew up in Huntington, WV, but spent most of her childhood in Kentucky. She and her siblings grew up in a Methodist Children's Home in Versailles and Franklin, KY and she went on to graduate from Franklin-Simpson County High School and then Bethel Junior College in Hopkinsville. She moved to Frankfort in 1951 and met her husband at First Baptist Church, and they married on November 26, 1954.
Betty was a member of First Baptist Church Frankfort and was retired from the Kentucky Department of Vocational Rehabilitation.
Betty loved her children and being a grandmother. She loved photographing family moments, researching genealogy, gardening, and walking the beach for hours looking for seashells.
Visitation will be at Rogers Funeral Home from 12-1pm on Friday, May 29th with the service to follow at 1pm. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
