Obituary of George "Bordie" Tillman

George Louis Tillman Jr. (Bordie) gained his wings on May 24, 2026, at the age of 72. He was a deeply down-to-earth man whose life was defined by his unwavering love and dedication to his family. George was preceded in death by his father, George L. Tillman Sr.; his mother Sara E Tillman; his grandmother, Flora Carter and his sister Gwen Clay. ​George didn't need a lot of fanfare to be happy; he found his greatest joy in the simple, meaningful things in life. Whether he was sharing a laugh, offering steady support, or just spending time with the people he cared about, George’s presence was a comforting anchor for those around him. ​Above all else, George loved his family fiercely. He put the needs of his loved ones first and took immense pride in being someone they could always count on. His warmth, straightforward nature, and genuine spirit left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. ​He is survived by his beloved children Michelle Simpson and Shane Simpson; his devoted sisters Rev. Geraldine Spencer (Stephen) and Phyllis Harshaw; and his brothers Gary Tillman, Glen Tillman and Kirk Brown. George also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who brought immense joy to his life, alongside many extended family members and friends who will miss him beyond measure. ​A service to honor and celebrate George’s life will be held at a later date.
