Martha Jane (Weathers) Rogers, 88, of Frankfort, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 12, 2024, in Louisville, KY at The Springs of Stony Brook after a battle with vascular dementia. She was born on November 7, 1935, in Lexington, KY to Malcolm Everette and Hannah Eleanor Weathers. After graduating from Frankfort High School in 1953, she attended the University of Kentucky, majoring in music (piano). There she met the love of her life, Roe Rogers, and they were married on June 11, 1955. After his retirement from the Revenue Cabinet, they enjoyed many years traveling both in the U.S. and abroad and spent winters in Naples, Florida. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Edward (Roe) Rogers Jr., son, Jeffrey C. Rogers, and daughter, Cindy R. Armstrong (Lou), all of Louisville; granddaughters, Laura C. Armstrong (Keane Barger) of Nashville, TN, and C. Taylor Armstrong (David Walters) of Baltimore, MD; and great-grandchildren, Losson Barger, Everett Barger, and Eleanor Walters. Music was a big part of her life, and her cherished piano was donated to the First United Methodist Church where they were dedicated members and she enjoyed singing in the choir. A worship celebration is planned on Sunday, March 17th at 3pm at First United Methodist Church, with a visitation/reception to follow in the gallery. Her remains will be buried in the Rogers family plot in the Frankfort Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church, the Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins, or the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the staff at Belmont Village and The Springs at Stony Brook who provided her care and support.
