Obituary of Shirley Middleton

Shirley Ann Middleton, 86, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024. She is survived by a sister, Mary Jane Willard; a brother, William C. Middleton; nieces Rhonda Willard and Janet Cummins; and nephews, Steve Willard, Randall Willard, Kyle Willard, William “Butch” Middleton, and Mark Middleton. She was preceded in death by a son, William Bradley Middleton, in 1998.
Born to Riva Gladys Cornish Middleton and Samuel Arthur Middleton on November 14, 1937, she was a graduate of Bridgeport High School, and while working as a law clerk and U.S. District Court clerk, she received a Liberal Arts degree from Kentucky State University. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and enjoyed spending time at the Capital City Activity Center, gardening vegetables and flowers, traveling, visiting museums, and attending plays and musicals. A supporter of the Humane Society, she often fostered pets and leaves behind her beloved dog Blue and cat Freddie.
A funeral service will be held at Rogers Funeral Home at 1:00 pm Friday, March 22nd with visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the Frankfort Cemetery. Pastor Tom Corum will officiate the services.
Pallbearers will be Shirley’s nephews and her friend David Doyle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Franklin County Humane Society.
