HAROLD H. WILKINS OBITUARY
Harold Howard Wilkins of Frankfort returned Home to his Savior on March 7, 2013 at Lexingtons Veterans Medical Center. Harold was born June 13, 1939 in Brewers area of Marshall County, second child of Howard and Dora Monhollen Wilkins. A talented basketball player, he graduated from South Marshall High School and Murray State University. He then joined the U.S. Army through MSUs ROTC program.
Major Harold Wilkins Army experiences included two tours of Vietnam during the war. During one tour, Harold survived being shot in the head, earning him the Purple Heart Decoration. Other medals he received were the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Air Medal, and Army Commendation. While in service, Harold earned an MBA degree at Arizona State University
While at MSU, he married the love of his life, Calvert City native Martha Schmidt. For four decades, they lived in various states and Germany, coming to Frankfort in 1979 with children Karen and Kevin. They enjoyed being members of Holly Hill Church of Christ. They attended many Franklin County schools sporting events to support their children and nephews.
For 27 years, Harold and brothers Phillip and Gary owned Wilkins Electric, Inc. As president, Harold was active with several Frankfort/Franklin County business and civic groups.
Harolds beloved Martha died June 12, 2000, shortly before their 41 stanniversary. Others who predeceased him were his parents, brother-in-law Thomas Forrest, and nephew Kyle Wilkins.
Harold is survived by his children Karen (Stephen) Wilkins Schneider, Frankfort, and Kevin Wilkins, Lexington; grandchildren Ryan and Lindsey Schneider, Brett and Brooke Wilkins; sister Patsy Wilkins Forrest, Murfreesboro, TN; brothers Phillip (Suzanne) and Gary (Angela) Wilkins,
Frankfort, Jim (Scotty) Wilkins, Dawsonville GA; nieces and nephews Howard (Kelly) Forrest, Anne (Tod) Collier, Scott (Jacqui) Wilkins, Doug (Gina) Wilkins, Amy (Doug) Hopwood, Jonathan (Jenny) Wilkins, Daniel (Jennifer) Wilkins, Jamie (Kenny) Lackey, Sean (Angela) Wilkins.
Harolds family is grateful to the caring staff of Morning Pointe - Frankfort, where Harold lived the past year. Hell be long remembered for his Bingo skills and interest in other residents.
Visitation is Sunday, March 10, 2-6 pm, Rogers Funeral Home, Frankfort. Graveside services will be Monday, March 11, 3pm EDT at Calvert City Cemetery in Marshall County.
