Obituary of Robert Janes
Robert "Rob" Thomas Janes, Jr., 63, Frankfort, formerly of Pleasureville, passed away on July 4, 2017, from heart failure. Rob was born on November 26, 1953 in Louisville, to Robert Thomas Janes, Sr. and Thelma Janes. He is survived by his children, Tonya Peace (Jay), Melissa Tracy (Frankie Mangione), Rob (Jen Smith), and Tim (Jessica Moore); 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Thelma Janes; his sister, Pat Burns (Skip); and his beloved dog, Ginger. He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Judy Mae Janes; his father, Robert Thomas Janes, Sr,; his sister, Martha Lynn Golden; and his brother-in-law and friend, Felix Golden.
Rob attended Kentucky State University, where he studied aquaculture. After attending KSU, he owned and operated Rob's Custom Body Shop in Shelbyville for many years. After closing his business in Shelbyville, he went back to KSU to work full-time in the University's Diivision of Aquaculture until 2014.
Rob spent the last few years of his life missing his wife and best friend Judy. Their love withstood the hardships and challenges of life, and it celebrated the miracles and joys. Their love was tempered while fishing together on the banks of the Kentucky River, in rushing streams, and beside still ponds. To Rob, fishing was a science, an art, and it was love.
Rob was a faithful husband, a loving Daddy, a trusted friend, a knowledgeable teacher, a hard worker, an aspiring chef, a fisherman, a life-long learner a philosopher, an honorable role model, and so much more.
His light, love and laughter will forever be missed. He was truly loved.
