Obituary of Andrew Harned

Andrew Henry Harned, 37, son of Glenda Jones Harned and the late Henry Houston Harned, passed away on July 16, 2017.

Visitation will be at Rogers Funeral Home, 507 West 2nd Street, Frankfort, KY on Friday, July 21, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the South Frankfort Presbyterian Church, 224 Steele Street, Frankfort, KY at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017, with visitation preceding at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Frankfort Cemetery.

Andrew was born in Frankfort, KY on April 29, 1980. He graduated from Franklin County High School in 1999 and attended Kentucky State University from January to December of 2007. Andrew worked at Wendy’s, Kroger, and Hardees from 1998 until October of 2006. He was a member of the South Frankfort Presbyterian Church, NAMI Kentucky, and Capital City Historical Dancers, and he and his mother were extras in the 2010 feature film “Secretariat”. His hobbies included traveling, attended spring and fall meets at Keeneland, and following sports – he was an avid UK Wildcats fan, attending games for men and women’s basketball, football, baseball, and softball, as well as a fan of the Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Phillies, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Golden State Warriors.

Andrew was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry Hewitt and Ernestine Harned of Frankfort, KY and C.W. and Dortha Broach Jones of Murray, KY.

He is survived by a brother, Matthew Harned of Frankfort; uncles Henry Hewitt Edwards of Houston, TX, Hewitt McKee Harned (Glenda) of Cold Springs, KY, Edward P. Jones (Lynn) of Memphis, TN, and Rick W. Jones (Pam) of Murray, KY; aunt Yvonne Vogt (Rich) of Benton, KY; cousins Donald C. Jones of Menifee, CA, Edward W. Jones of Oxnard, CA, Richard P. Jones of Ardmore, OK, Jessica Jones Paine of Murray, KY, Richard W. Jones of Benton, KY, Benson Jones of Murray, KY, Isaiah Jones of Murray, KY, Sydney Vogt of Benton, KY, Bethany Vogt of Benton, KY, and Henry McKee Harned of Columbus, OH; and step-cousins Amy Ast of Columbus, OH, Brian Ast (Tammy) of Sardinia, OH, Haley Vincent (Andrew) of Memphis, TN, and Leslie Lynn of Memphis, TN.

Pallbearers will be Amy Ast, Drew Fielder,  Hank Harned, Benson Jones, Isaiah Jones, Richard Jones, Rob Moore, Mark Overstreet, and Jason Shaw.

Honorary bearers will be Carol Banks, Ann Brooks, Don Coffey, Sylvia Coffey, Brenda Duvall, John Duvall, Mac Harned, Mark Hawkins, Ed Jones, Rick Jones, Jean Lemon, Jessica Paine, Tony Sholar, Wood Smith, and Yvonne Vogt. 

In lieu of flowers, Andrew’s family requests contributions in his memory be made to one of the following at the South Frankfort Presbyterian Church: The Remembrance Trust Fund, The Harned Memorial Reserve Fund, or The Senior High Fund.
