Jagjit Singh (John) Dade, 78, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2023 in Frankfort, Kentucky. His birthplace was Amritsar, Punjab, India. Visitation will be held at Rogers Funeral Home, 507 West 2nd Street, Frankfort, on Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The family will process privately to the crematory and then meet at the Gurudwara Sahib, 257 Swigert Avenue, Lexington, for Arambh Sri Sehaj Paath beginning at 3:30 pm. Jagjit was a graduate of the Chandigarh Engineering College, India and received an MA in both Mechanical and Civil Engineering from the University of Kentucky. He retired from the Ky. Transportation Cabinet after 33 years of service, and was the developer of The Oaks Subdivision as well as a home builder. He also was a founding member of Bluegrass Sikh Association and SABG Gurudwara Temple, Lexington. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Jeannette Fallen Dade, and parents Rattan Singh and Jaswant Kaur. Jagjit is survived by his wife, Eleanor Carter; his sons, Shawn-David Dade (Hallie), Louisville and Chris Doane, Frankfort; daughter, Katie Rufra (George), Crestwood; and grandchildren, Shelbie and Caden Rufra and Frannie Dade. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. Kulwant Singh Ded (Satvinder); and sisters, Harjit Balia (Sarbjit), Sukhwant Mooker (Kuldip) and Jaswinder Kaur. Jagjit always looked forward to attending services at the temple, visits with his grandchildren, UK football, poker with his friends, driving on road trips, hosting family and friends, his morning sudoku, and relaxing on his deck in the sun enjoying nature.
