So very sorry for your loss. Mary was a gift to our community, and to the world. May she rest now in perfect peace and joy. And may her memory always be a blessing and a consolation. Our hearts are with all of Mary’s loved ones in this difficult time.

Mary became a friend in high school and was a lifelong friend. We were college roommates at EKU. I remember how she and another roommate faced faculty resistance in getting a degree in accounting. Some perceived accounting only as a man's career. I have shared their stories through the years as trailblazers for women's equal rights. When we visited you were always a topic of conversation. We enjoyed a trip to Florida in 2020 visiting a college roommate. She seemed to enjoy our high school reunions and connecting with family and friends in London.

Audrey and I especially enjoyed sitting in the bleachers at Western Hills High School. We visited with Jim and Mary while we watched our daughters basketball games. It was great fun. David Barnhill.

Mary and I had many conversations when I was secretary at Bridgeport Christian Church. I would always listen to every word she said because each word was filtered through kindness and love. She helped me to truly understand what social justice means and how to incorporate its principles throughout my life. Being with her filled me with peace. I am a better person because of knowing her.

Dear Kristel,
We were so sorry to hear of Mary’s death. She was a lovely, highly intelligent, gentle woman and we are privileged to have known her and Jim. Your parents were such good people and wonderful parents. They loved you dearly and were so proud of you. We’ll always fondly remember our times with Mary and Jim as Capital Day School parents and all the adventures we shared with you and Erin. Our hearts and prayers are with you at this sad time.
Love,
Willie and John Lile
