I wanted to thank the yagel family for allowing me to take care of your mother. It was a pleasure to do so as well as a pleasure to get to know you all including Kevin O'Neill. Your mother was such a sweetheart and i looked forward to seeing her everyday. We shared many laughs and great conversations. David and Kevin you did such a amazing job taking care of mom and that she got everything that she needed to have a great end of life these last few years. She was such a joy to take care of. So glad that she went peacefully to heaven. My prayers go out to you all and again it has been a pleasure to be part of her life even for this short time.

Of course you don't choose your Mother-in-Law but pundits caution young brides will gradually morph into a reasonable copy of their mothers. That hasn't happened with Julia nor could it because her Mom was so unique.....there could never be another Sallie. She was kind, loving, generous, yes opinionated, and above all funny. Her indefatigable spirit was always front and center, brightening the day of everyone whether in church, at the store, in the home, on the golf course or at Morning Pointe. Her humor was mostly self-deprecating which surely did enhance her likeable nature and made her a such joy to be around. Age takes its toll on all of us and mobility issues gradually took away first her golf, and then the daily walking habit that she practiced for so many years. While often bemoaning the loss of her short term memory in recent times, she nevertheless was in the moment even at the last. Following another disappointing NCAA tournament this year she observed astutely that the Wildcats needed a new coach....she was spot on! We treasure the wonderful time that her great granddaughters experienced with her over Easter vacation this year. Her bright personality and sparkling eyes enchanted the girls throughout the week that and created memories that they, and we, will cherish forever. Even in the last week of her life she was lucid and loving ..."Family is the most important thing" she said, adding " If you don't have family, you don't have anything" . No, I didn't get to choose my in-laws, but I was truly blessed in my relationship with Julia's parents as they both were simply put....the best .

Sympathies to all the Yagel family, plus Kevin O'Neil. I remember your mom well and have kept up with her goings-on over the years through my mom and others. I know the family has been very attentive to her and that's a wonderful thing. Condolences to you all.
