Obituary of Mildred Polsgrove

Please share a memory of Mildred to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mildred Virginia Priestley Polsgrove, 91, passed away on May 13, 2024. Mildred was born in Frankfort on November 30, 1932 to Lucien Gay Priestley and Sarah Dalton Gayle Priestley. She was an avid reader, who spent most days getting lost in a book, and read thousands of books over her lifetime. This love of books lead to her work at the Paul Sawyier Public Library. Some of her time there was spent driving the Bookmobile, helping to share the joy of books and reading with countless others throughout the community. She loved the Lord and was a member of First Christian Church where she stayed active as a volunteer through the church circle. She was also a member of the Ridgeview Homemakers Club and a book club. Her family was her greatest joy and she took her grandchildren on many trips. Mildred leaves behind countless friends and family members who loved her and will miss her greatly, including her husband James E. Polsgrove; daughter Sarah Smith (Smitty); grandchildren Heather Presley, Annie Smith, and Kennedy Smith; and great-grandchildren Kamryn Presley, Ian Presley, and Ryleigh Clark. She was preceded in death by her three siblings, Shelby Quarles, Rodman Priestley, and William “Bill” Priestley. Services will be held in the chapel at Sunset Memorial Gardens at 10:00 am Monday, May 20th, with visitation beginning at 9:00 am. Rev. Meredith Siler will officiate the service. Honorary pallbearers will be Archie Quarles, Bruce Quarles, Scott Booth, Tim Priestley, Terry Priestley, and Ian Presley. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Mildred’s memory to the charity of your choice.
