Carolyn Kimbell Smith, 77, passed away early Thursday morning at her home. Born in Hickman County on August 13, 1935, she was the daughter of the late James W. and Sarah B. Kimbell and was preceded in death by her husband, Henry E. "Gene" Smith. A 1952 graduate of Frankfort High School, she worked as a bookkeeper for Bizzack Brothers, was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Hiram Lodge #4. Mrs. Smith is survived by a daughter, Nancy S. Roberts (Henry); three sons, James E. Smith, Richard L. Smith (Phyllis), and William I. Smith (Teresa); seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four cousins, four sisters-in-law; and two brothers-in-law. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Smith's grandchildren, Jeremy T. Smith, Rebecca L. Roberts, Joshua P. Roberts, Nathan W. Smith, Sarah E. Smith, Celesta M. Cox, and Austin L. Smith. Honorary bearers will be Mrs. Smith's great-grandchildren, Hayley M. Roberts, Ethan P. Roberts, Walter E. Smith, Kalissa Purvis, and Zoey E. Cox. Dr. Phil Hill will officiate the services. Graveside services will be held in Sunset Memorial Gardens at 11:00 a.m. Monday. Visitation will be held in Rogers Funeral Home from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday and at the chapel at Sunset Memorial Gardens from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday. Flowers are welcomed, while the family suggests any contributions in Mrs. Smith's memory be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass, who they thank along with Dr. Gregory Fuqua for their wonderful care.
