Obituary of William Noonan

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
William Sutterlin Noonan, age 66, died Saturday. He was a lifelong resident of South Frankfort and a self-employed contractor. His specialty - copper and slate roofing skills - were honed under the tutelage of his respected mentor, Mr. Ball. An avid outdoorsman, his love of fishing and hunting brought him great pleasure. An athlete who in his youth dreamed of being a baseball player, he went on to occasionally coach and always support his children's baseball, softball, and basketball teams. Bill was fiercely loyal to those he held in high regard. With a deep appreciation for the arts, he loved music, was an enthusiastic dancer, and had an abiding admiration for the creative endeavors of others. Enigmatic, often opinionated, stubborn as a mule, and Irish to the bone, he was, to the end, unapologetically human. He is survived by his beloved children, Nance Elizabeth Noonan and William Graves Noonan, along with their mother, Jan Graves Noonan; a step-daughter, Jessica Graves Bever; grandchildren Cheyenne, Simon, and Lylah; nieces Melissa and Caroline; and a host of friends and loved ones. Bill was preceded in death by his father, John Shirley Noonan, his mother, Caroline Sutterlin Noonan, and his brother John. Services will be held in Rogers Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
