Obituary of Mariam Burge

Mariam Marshall Burge, 76, widow of Donald Burge, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, under the care of Hospice after struggling for several years with ALS.
Mrs. Burge, a lifelong resident of Frankfort, was a graduate Frankfort High School. She owned and managed Gallery on the Mall for more than ten years and served as a secretary at Immanuel Baptist Church, both in Frankfort. In 1986, she became a realtor and continued this work until her illness prevented her from doing so. She was an avid gardener who loved nothing more than spending time with her flowers and communing with nature. She was an active member of the Lexington Tennis Club and was at the top of her game when she fell ill. Mariam was a member of First Baptist Church of Frankfort and touched all who knew her with her loving kindness and undbounded generousity.
Mrs. Burge was the loving daughter of the late Ernest and Elizabeth Marshall. She is survived by son, Walter Burge (Gail Bramblett); preceded in death by son, Edward Burge; and survived by daughter Elizabeth Burge Gibson (Bob). She was the loving grandmother of Conor Burge and Parker Caufield. She is survived by her brothers Bill, David, and Leslie Marshall.
A memorial service will be held in Rogers Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Monday. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Flowers are welcomed, while the family suggests any contributions in Mrs. Burge's memory be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
