Obituary of Marguerite Eloise Jurek

Marguerite Eloise Jurek, 88, widow of John Jurek, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014, in the Frankfort Regional Medical Center. Born in Ashburn, Georgia on November 6, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Aaron and Ola Mae Shepherd Bullington. Eloise met her husband while he was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia during World War II, and following the war, they moved to John's home state of Michigan. In 1953 they moved to Kentucky where they raised their five children. Eloise was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and received her Master's from Georgetown College, and then spent over 25 years as a teacher at Elkhorn Elementary School. She loved reading, gardening, bird watching, and her cat Kelli. During her retirement, she particularly enjoyed travelling Europe with her dear friend Barbara Jones. A member of the Church of the Ascension, she was active for many years with her former teaching colleagues in the Retired Teachers Association and enjoyed her many friends at Morning Pointe. Eloise is survived by two daughters, Beth Jurek of Frankfort and Margaret Larson (Michael) of Cape Carteret, North Carolina; a son, David Jurek of Frankfort; two brothers, Grady Bullinger of Tallahassee, Florida and Gene Bullington of Albany, Georgia; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jeanne Jurek; her sister, Lorene Bullington Greene; and a brother, Aaron Bullington, Jr. Funeral services will be held in Rogers Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Monday followed by interment in the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. Pallbearers will be Mike Larson, John Hoffman, Louie Rivers, Eric Cunningham, Sean Norris, and David Jurek. The Rev. William Jessee Neat will officiate the services. Flowers are welcomed, while the family suggests any contributions in Eloise's memory be made to the Frankfort Salvation Army or the Franklin County Humane Society.
