Obituary of Helen Edwards
Please share a memory of Helen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Helen Bacon Edwards, 70, died at home Wednesday, April 16, 2014. Ms. Edwards was born on November 16, 1943, daughter of the former Alex Hawkins and Anite Louise Bacon of Frankfort.
Ms. Edwards was the beloved mother of three sons, Thomas (Yvonne), Paul (Christie), and David (Donna) Edwards, and grandmother of five grandchildren: Alex, Grace, Jeremy, Jacob, and Kathryn. Many were the friends and family who deeply loved and respected the person who was our mother.
Ms. Edwards attended the Good Shepherd School from firt grade into high school, and was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church for many decades. She had been a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and was an active donor to the Franklin County Humane Society, as she was a champion of animal rights. Ms. Edwards loved her family, and her greatest pleasure in life was spending time with her grandchildren. She was also a great lover of the arts - music, books, and poetry - having written much on her own and studied at the writer's conferences at the settlement school located in Hindman, Ky.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am Monday, April 21, in Rogers Funeral Home, with funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Tom Kaldy, Deacon at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. There will be no graveside services following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Franklin County Humane Society or Doctors Without Borders.
