Linda D. Smith, 75, passed away peacefully from this earth to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, in the Frankfort Regional Medical Center. She was born on December 24, 938 to the late Virgil N. and Naomi R. Atha.
LaLa, or Big Mama, as she was affectionately known, leaves behind a memory of faith, strength, love, and humor. She retired from state government in 1996, and has since spent her time enjoying each day with her beloved family and friends. Her interests included reading, music, puzzles, and the SyFy Channel.
Linda's survivors include her daughters Tracey Smith and Nancy Chipman; and grandchildren Chris Burkhead (April), Matt Miller (Dawn), Zoe Chipman, Kristy Chipman, Jim Ed Chipman, and Charlie Hounchell. Her most recent blessings have been her great-grandchildren Matthew Noah Miller and Kielee Renae Rhody. The Rudder, Chipman, and Roger Mahuron families also survive Linda.
Services in celebration of Linda's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in Rogers Funeral Home. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Flowers are welcomed, while contributions in Linda's memory are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, Ky. Organ Donors Affiliates, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
