Mary Lee Pardue, 83, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at the Episcopal Church Home in Louisville, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Lula Mae Wagoner Purdue, and a sister, Lillian Ann Pardue. She is survived by a brother, Thomas A. Pardue, Jr. (Jeannette) and a niece, Mary Carla Pardue. Mary was born on July 24, 1930 in Scottsville, Kentucky. Her family subsequently moved to Frankfort where she attended elementary and high schools. She went on to attend the University of Kentucky where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in business education and a minor in English. Mary moved to Maryland and taught high school in Easton and later in Montgomery County, and spent one year teaching for the Army in Germany. While teaching, she attended the University of Maryland and received her Master's degree in counseling. She was an active member of the Foundry United Methodist Church in Washington, DC and sang in the choir. Mary returned to Kentucky in 2011, moving first to Lexington and then to Louisville in 2014. Services will be held in Rogers Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014, with visitation preceding the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. Mary will be buried in the Frankfort Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Susanna Wesley House, 609 Park Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21201.
