Obituary of Rachel Rambo

Rachel Rambo entered the gates of heaven on Monday, October 20, 2014, after 94 years on this earth. A native of Owen County, Rachel came to Frankfort as young woman to work at the shoe factory. Rachel enjoyed sewing and caring for children which resulted in lifelong friendships. She also worked with the Franklin County Extension Office doing in-home visits and ultimately worked with the State Labor Cabinet, retiring after 15 years of service. Rachel joined Crestwood Baptist Church shortly after moving to Frankfort and became an active member; taking a leadership role inthe Women's Missionary Union, Girls Auxiliary, Bible School, and Sunday School. She was always ready to volunteered wherever the need. She was an active member of the Peak's Mill Homemaker's Club for many years. Rachel was preceded in death by her husband Alger, brother Robert Derringer, and sisters Oma Thornton and Lela Lathrem. She is survived by her daughter, Susan, of Frankfort and many nieces and nephews. Services will be Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Crestwood Baptist Church at 2:30 pm, with visitation from 10:30 am until time of the service. Pall Bearers will be nephews and great nephews: Gary Derringer, Dan Perkins, Jim Perkins, Caleb Perkins, Joe Young, Ryan Young, Michael Perkins, Michael Weber, John Perkins, Rodney Beckham, Barry Beckham, Lucien Parker, Rob Parker, Eddie Penn, Christopher Parker, Justin Parker, Michael Murphy, Dean Rambo, Phillip Rambo, and Deron Rambo. Honorary bearers will be George Quire, Steve Gray, Bill West, Bobby Woolums and John Phillips.
