James William Utter Sr., 70, of Frankfort, passed away February 9, 2013 after a long illness. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on September 9, 1942, Jim was a graduate of Chase Law School in Cincinnati. He served as City Attorney in Paducah, Kentucky for many years before relocating to Frankfort, where he worked as an attorney for the Commonwealth of Kentucky until his retirement in 1999. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, a Kentucky Colonel and a Duke of Paduke. Survivors include his wife, Barbara A. Utter; two sons, James (Lorah) Utter of Baltimore, MD, and Steven (Candace) Utter of Livermore, CA; four daughters, Marianne (Jeff) Heath of Fairfield, OH, Kathy (Stephen) O’Connor of Chesterfield, MO, Jennifer (Jeff) Cheek of Frankfort, KY, and Laura (Angel) Negron of Frankfort, KY; and thirteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Anne Utter, and a sister, Virginia Kozera. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, at Rogers Funeral Home with a Scripture Service at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Frankfort Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Jim’s memory may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and Hospice of the Bluegrass.
