Phyllis Jean Palmer, 72, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 6, 2013. Born in Frankfort on August 14, 1940, she is survived by her husband of 52 years, Charles C. Palmer; two grandsons, Steven and James M. Palmer; two great-grandchildren, Kalvin and Xavier; a brother, Larry Mitchell (Charlotte); a niece and nephew, Lisa and JL Mitchell; and a great-nephew, Parker Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Garfield and Cora London Mitchell; and her daughters, Michelle Palmer and Teresa Ann Palmer-Powell. Mrs. Palmer was retired from Citizens Security Life Insurance Company where she was an underwriter for 25 years. She was a member of Friendship Christian Church, a lifetime member of the Frankfort Lions Club, and a former member of the KSU Green Club. Visitation will be held in Rogers Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 8 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, May 9 at 1:00 p.m. with Dr. Bert Patterson and Pastor Mike Kerns officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Michael and Steven Palmer, Derek Ellis, James W. Broughton, and JL and Parker Mitchell. Lisa Mitchell will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Flowers are welcome, while the family suggests contributions in Mrs. Palmer’s memory be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of your choice.
