Please share a memory of Ann to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Anna "Ann" Louise Brown Rogers, 95, widow of the late John M. "Jack" Rogers, passed away early Tuesday morning at her daughter's home in North Wales, Pennsylvania. Born in Columbus, Kentucky on September 10, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Waller Chenault and Della Carter Brown. After attending the Bowling Green Business School, she came to Frankfort at age 18 to work in the Highway Department where she lived in a boarding house on Third Street. She often walked to Pete's Corner, which is where she met her handsome Jack. It was an honor for her to be alongside him as they served so many families at the Rogers family funeral home for over 40 years. She was a longstanding member of The Church of the Ascension and also enjoyed Martha Yansey's Sunday School class at The First Baptist Church. She was a member of the DAR, enjoyed playing Ladies day and Twilight golf, reading, playing bridge and eating lunch with her friends, going to the races with her son and friend Tata, and fish fry and bbq on the Mississippi with her kinfolks. In later life, she enjoyed watching the PGA on television, converted to be a New York Yankees baseball fan, and, yes, passed away still smitten with Rick Pitino. Above all she loved about life, her greatest joys were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and her faith and never-ending love and trust in the Lord. Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her son, John Chenault “Nault” Rogers; a sister, Nellye Dean "Dear" Brown Russell; a brother, William Vance Brown; a sister-cousin, Edith "Eba" Cole; and many other beloved relatives and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Edith Ann "Happy" Rogers Kessler (Richard); a daughter-in-law, Mary Anna Bennett Rogers; one grandson, Joshua Rogers Tyndall; three granddaughters, Doherty Reynolds (Tim), Rachel Bouchard (Michael), and Molly Rogers; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Callan Reynolds; her beloved Wilson, Betty, and Punkin; beloved nephews, nieces and cousins; and last but not least, her remaining Bridge game partner family and all the good friends she enjoyed walking through life with. Pallbearers will be Josh Tyndall, Richard Kessler, Tim Reynolds, Bob Russell, Bill Russell, Tom Briggs, and James Ball. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Bouchard, Judy Cole, Roberta Dale, Tata Scott, Vincent Barr, Mary Charlton Hulette, Alice Bacon Blanton, Mary Lusse Nichol, Dorothy Lea, Jane Johnson, and Susan Williams. A service in celebration of Mrs. Rogers’ life will be held in Rogers Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Saturday with burial to follow at the Frankfort Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday and from10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Hospice of the Bluegrass or to Episcopal Relief and Development, PO Box 7058, Merrifield, VA 22116-7058 or at www.episcopalrelief.org .
