Obituary of Edward M. Coleman

Edward M. Coleman, 88, passed away in Hospice care May 20, 2015. Born in Frankfort, Ky. November 14, 1926, he graduated from Good Shepherd High School and attended the University of Kentucky after serving in the US Army from 1945 to 1947. He was a beloved husband, father, and special friend. Ed was a local real estate broker and appraiser operating Ed Coleman Realty and Auction Co. He also owned and operated Coleman Farm where he boarded and raised thoroughbreds. Ed loved to travel and had a broad knowledge of many subjects. He had a passion for many things including sports, refinishing furniture and Kentucky politics. He served as Democratic Party Chairman under the Collins administration from 1984-1987. Ed was integral part of baseball in the Frankfort area where he coached and sponsored many teams from the mid 1960’s through the 1970’s. He was elected to the Frankfort Parks and Recreation Hall of Fame in 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Victoria C. Coleman; his parents, Lambert Coleman and Susie Smith Coleman; four brothers, Bert, Gus, Frank, and Jim Coleman; and three sisters, Mason McGaughey, Louise Coleman, and Suzanne Moore. He is survived by a special friend Agnes Howell; one brother, Bill; two sons, Mark (Teresa), and Bryan; and two granddaughters, Paige and Emily. Memorial services will be held at Rogers Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Wedneday, May 27. Visitation will be at Rogers from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Meyer, Jim Gray, Tommy Wheat, Buddy Demerson, Hank Hancock, Ed Goins, Bobby Moore, and Bas Gaither. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass or the Alzheimer's Association.
