Kenneth Carroll Wallace, RADM USN (RET) Kenneth Carroll Wallace, 95, passed away September 23, 2015 at his home in Melbourne, Florida. He was born on July 30, 1920 in New London, CT to Kenneth Reuben Ransom Wallace, CAPT, USN(RET) and Bridget Mary Carroll. Admiral Wallace’s Naval career spanned more than 3 decades. He graduated in 1942 from the United States Naval Academy in the class of 1943. He received his Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He attended the U.S Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island, the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California, the Nuclear Power School at the Naval Reactors Facility, Idaho Falls, Idaho and the Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. His service included duty during the conflicts of Vietnam and Korea as well as WWII. He served on a number of US Naval Vessels. He was involved in the development of the Sidewinder and Polaris missile systems. He commanded the USS George(DE697), the USS Manley(DD940), the USS Observation Island(EAG154) and the USS Long Beach(CGN9) which was the first US Navy nuclear-powered guided missile cruiser. In addition, he was Commander Cruise-Destroyer Flotilla Twelve in Mayport, Floria. He is survived by his sons, Kenneth C. Wallace, Jr. of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Robert C. Wallace of Austin, Texas, Thomas C. Wallace of Edgartown, Massachusetts and John P. Wallace of Melbourne, Florida; many grandchildren and an increasing number of great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Katharine Carroll Wallace and his great grandson, Wyatt Carroll Lewis-Wallace. He will be buried in a graveside ceremony with military honors at 10:30 am on Saturday, November 7th, 2015, at the Frankfort Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Navy-Marine Corp Relief Society or the March of Dimes.
