Obituary of Ann Stevenson Dawers

Ann Dawers, of Frankfort, passed away quietly in her sleep on the morning of October 19 at age 89. Ann was born and raised in Henshaw in Union County, Kentucky, and graduated in 1948 with a degree in physical therapy from the University of Kansas. She later received a degree from the University of Kentucky. Ann’s physical therapy career, which began during the polio epidemic, included jobs at the University of Oklahoma, Cardinal Hill in Lexington, Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville, and the former Frankfort State Hospital and School in Frankfort. She later worked as a disability examiner for the state of Kentucky. Ann was preceded in death by her husband Lou. She is survived by her children, Nancye Dawers of New Orleans and Bill Dawers of Savannah. Ann had a large extended family and many good friends. Visitation will be held in the chapel at the Frankfort Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, with a short service immediately following at 2 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society or the charity of your choice.
