Just wanted to say, 'I'll see ya later, Uncle Gene. I Love you". That is what I said to Daddy the last time we spoke and I knew that time was running out. I believe that we will all meet again one day. I feel like Dad, Uncle Gene and Uncle Rodney are playing music while Mamaw (Daisy), Aunt Renee and Aunt Ada are singing with the other angels. It is really hard to let go of those we love, so we must always try to make good memories to hold on to.
I used to call Mom and Dad daily, and I am grateful for every call. I have my Dad's voice locked away in my mind and heart so that I can hear him any time that I want, and he would say in the background when I called and Mom would answer, "Tell that baby I love her". I can see his smile and hear his voice.
I guess what I am trying to say to Aunt Helen and my cousins is, Hold on to the sound of his voice, his smile when he was happy, the look in his eyes when he said, "I love you" and the sound of his laughter. Everything else was never that important anyway.
I love you all and pray for the Good Lord to send you comfort every time your heart breaks for missing Uncle Gene. Take care of each other.
