Obituary of Robert Moorman Polsgrove

Robert Moorman Polsgrove, 73, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2016. Born in Frankfort on June 26, 1942, Bob was the son of the late Robert Ambrose and Hallie Moorman Polsgrove. He is survived by his wife, Rose Robards Polsgrove; sons, Robert Eric Polsgrove and William Bryant Burke (Joey); grandchildren Liam and Kate Burke; sister, Betty Yetzina (Ray); nephew, Tim Yetzina (Alma); and niece, Laura Yetzina (James Holmes). Bob graduated with a B.A. in History from Vanderbilt University in 1964, and then went on to receive his M.A. in International Diplomacy from the University of Kentucky Patterson School of Diplomacy. He worked briefly as a teacher before settling into his passion as a historian, first for the Kentucky Heritage Council, and after his retirement for the non-profit organization he started, the Kentucky Trust for Historic Preservation. His love for preservation carried over into his involvement in many organizations, including Downtown Frankfort, Historic Frankfort, and the Friends of Lower Howards Creek. His community involvement included multiple terms on he Frankfort Independent School Board, and service on the Frankfort Architectural Review Board. Visitation will be at Rogers Funeral Home from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Thursday. A service will be held at the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. Thursday with private interment by family. A gathering in celebration of Bob's life and contributions to historic preservation will be announced and held later in the spring. Flowers are welcomed, while contributions in Bob's memory are suggested to the Franklin County Humane Society.
