Obituary of Mary Belle Dailey

Mary Belle Bartley Dailey, 87, passed away Monday, February 15, 2016. Services will be held in the Evergreen Baptist Church at 12:00 p.m. Friday, with burial following in the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the church from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday. Born in Henderson on August 4, 1928, Mary Belle was a graduate of Peaks Mill High School. She worked alongside her sons and husband of 54 years on their farm, and later served as both Asst. Director and Director of the Franklin County Senior Citizens Center for more than 20 years, where she was instrumental in expanding the organization from the Southern Hotel to its current location in Medical Heights. She was active with the Franklin County Fair Board where she was a charter member, the FCHS Quarterback Club, and the H2U program at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center, and volunteered with 4-H and the ACCESS Soup Kitchen. Mary Belle was a long-time member of the Evergreen Baptist Church, and was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan. Mary Belle was is survived by two sons, Gayle Dailey (Penny) and Michael Dailey (Linda); six grandchildren, Sidney Dailey (Alicia), Teri Wiley (Bill), Tracie Mauer (Dan), Jonathan Dailey (Mary Ann), Nathan Dailey, and Jory (Kellie) Becker; eleven grandchildren; and special friends Elizabeth Eaton, Sally Everman, Waldine Green, and Eva Clark. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Glenn Dailey; her parents, John and Verna Bartley; and her foster parents, Cyrus Bourbon Lewis and Hallie Lewis. Pastor Ricky Simpson will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Mary Belle's grandchildren and Matthew Gravitt. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren. Flowers are welcome, while memorial contributions are suggested to the Franklin County Senior Activity Center or the ACCESS Soup Kitchen.
