Martha Bruce Brown Brooks was born September 15, 1935 to the late William C. and Zenobia Brown in Lawrenceburg, Ky., and passed away in Frankfort, Ky. on April 20, 2017. She attended Lincoln Institute High School in Shelbyville, Ky. and attended Kentucky State College for two years where she was voted "Most Beautiful". She later met and married David Brooks and from this union a daughter, Vicky, and two sons, Phillip Troy and the late Myron Demille were born. Bruce, as she was affectionately known, accepted Christ as her savior at an early age. She was the sweetest lady you'd ever want to meet and was loved and adored by all. She never met a stranger, and even today children that she taught at Bellepoint and Second Street Schools remember her. Bruce loved children and she also loved her church, First Baptist, and was a Sunday School teacher for many years where she received an award for her service. Bruce had retired from the Library and Archives and had many friends there also. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Vicky Hall, and son, Troy Brooks; three grandchildren, Aaron Hall, Armand Hall, and Stacie Holloway; her two sisters, Lucy Mann of Denver, Co., Belle (Bill) Smith of Louisville, Ky.; five brothers, Gary (Wanda) Brown of Versailles, Ky., Victor (Alice) Brown of Lawrenceburg, Ky., Robert (Louise) Brown of Louisville, Ky., John (Jewelene) Brown of Lexington, Ky., and Andrew Brown of Frankfort, Ky.; as well as several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. A homegoing celebration will be held at the First Baptist Church, at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017 with the Pastor Robert Earl Houston officiating.Visitation will take place at the church prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Private interment will be in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Myron Moore, Kenton Bottoms, Jr., Mark Hall, Jerald Smith, Quinn Brown, and Jayson Mitchell.
