Obituary of Melinda Lewis

Melinda Nicole Nickel Lewis, age 46, of Frankfort, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky after a long battle with Crohn’s Disease. She was born on October 18, 1971.

After graduating from Western Hills High School, Melinda attended the University of Kentucky and Kentucky State University attaining a bachelors degree in accounting. She worked in insurance for 20+ years, most recently retiring from Public Entity Insurance working with Cities, Counties and School Boards. Melinda loved to play and coach tennis and travel with her family. A devoted mother and wife, Melinda will be remembered as an exceptionally competitive hard worker and her relentlessness to give up to a disease she fought for 32 years. She will also be remembered for the love of her family, especially her 2 sons Robert Nicholas and Charles Jacob and the joy her nieces and nephews gave her.

In addition to her loving husband, Charlie; Melinda is also survived by her two sons, Robert Nicholas Lewis and Charles Jacob Lewis; mother, Linda Nickel; brother, Rich Nickel (Beth); nephews Ryan Wesley, Michael Tyne, and Bryce Lee Nickel; and her nieces, daughters of Rob and Kelly Lewis, Reese Indigo Wren and Kalliope Iris Hawke Lewis and mother-in-law Toni Lewis.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bob Nickel.

Visitation will be held at Rogers Funeral Home on Wednesday August 1st from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a service following at 7:00 p.m. A reception for family and friends will follow at the Carter House on Georgetown Road. 

Flowers are appreciated, while expressions of sympathy in Melinda’s name are suggested for the Bluegrass Care Navigators (Hospice).
