Rose was incredibly dedicated to the students at FHS..My youngest daughter Kristina was lucky to have her in her last year of teaching.I loved doing Roses' hair.We were of the same ilk..We loved talking books and politics. She had a really sly wit! Rose was a lovely lady and will be greatly missed.

July 1942 - Rose with Aunt Agnes and Uncle Doy Messamore. She spent summers with them in Beulah even after moving to Louisville. In her memory, and mine too, they were almost mythical figures. Aunt Agnes was at least 10 feet tall, and could do anything that needed doing; Uncle Doy was the only man worthy of standing by her side.

To begin as near the beginning as I can manage, here is Rose at 1 month. Dixie and Hilton lived in Crossroads, and she was born at the Madisonville hospital.

These photos haven't been seen for years, but they need to be, and we want to encourage everyone to share pictures and stories, particularly since we won't be having a traditional service. Whether you knew her from Hopkins County, Louisville, or Frankfort, please share any memories you can. We plan to have a memorial gathering at the farm later this year once we can gather in groups again.
